Gear Technical and Design Knowledge
Many factors need to be considered when we design and manufacture gears; some examples are the transmission speed ratio, noise, and strength. The developer develops the best fit gears after considering the specifications and the use conditions. Here we provide some technical knowledge about the design and manufacturing of gears we might consider when designing and manufacturing gears for customers.
Gears are critical components in mechanical systems, especially in industries like automotive, industrial machinery, and construction equipment. At Goang Chyan, precision in gear design, manufacture, and quality control is crucial for ensuring high-performance transmission systems.
Various designs of gears have their purposes. They also have their own advantages and disadvantages. The following table lists three types of gear profiles, their respective functional characteristics, and advantages and disadvantages.
Gear noise could be generated by the gear itself and due to the use of the gear. The noise from the gear itself is primarily due to contact of the tooth surface determined by the shape of the tooth surface. Therefore, good gear design and machining is the first step to reducing the noise generated when gears work.
