Wind Turbines
Application Notes
The function of a wind turbine gearbox is to transfer rotational speed from the low-speed main shaft to the high-speed shaft connected to the generator.
A reliable gearbox design is essential for reducing wind turbine downtime and making wind energy more competitive than thermal power. A good gear design in the wind turbine gearbox helps reduce the risk of variable wind loads and the subsequent severe cyclic loading. In order to achieve a stable frequency and voltage output, the gearbox changes the very low wind turbine speed to a high generator speed and makes the generator easy to control.
